Windows 7 turns 10 – and it’s time to upgrade!

Operating System - Update

In July this year, the age of Windows 7 hits double digits, which means in terms of the standard Microsoft lifecycle we are seeing support for these systems coming to an end.

What does this mean for you?

  • Microsoft will stop all support for these systems, and this means they will no longer issue patches and updates for these machines. This leaves you open to security vulnerabilities
  • Many other software vendors align their support and integration to the Windows lifecycle, which means systems such as bookkeeping software, security software and other business essential tools will no longer be supported

Why should I upgrade?

  • Performance and degradation issues – many of the machines running Windows 7 are approximately 3-5 years old which means they are also out of warranty. This also impacts staff productivity, especially if an older machine fails
  • New mandatory data breach laws mean that being at a higher risk of security vulnerabilities, leaving you exposed to fines and possible negative publicity.
  • Windows 10 was built for the Cloud, and with integration through Office 365, OneDrive and the move to MS Teams from Skype – there is a much better seamless flow of data across your systems.
