To stay updated when there are changes being made on your Microsoft SharePoint documents or items by creating alerts.

You may set up an alert for a list, library, folder, file, or list item therefore you can set up an alert for a specific folder in a library without receiving alerts when changes occur in the rest of the library.

Get alerts on item changes in SharePoint

Below are the steps to get alerts on an item (file, folder, or link) on SharePoint:

  1. Select the file, link, or folder which you want to get an alert on the list or library.

  2. Click the ellipses icon then select Alert me.


  3. Select and change the options you want in the Alert me when items change dialog.
     
  4. Click OK to save.


Get alerts on all changes in a document library in SharePoint

To get alerts on a library in SharePoint, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the list or library. DO NOT select any item.

  2. Click the ellipsis icon then select Alert Me.
  3. Select and change the options you want in the Alert me when items change dialog.

  4. Click OK to save.

Delete alerts in SharePoint

Follow these steps should you wish to cancel alerts in SharePoint:

  1. To view your alerts, click the ellipsis icon then select Manage my alerts.


  2. Click the checkbox of the alert that you want to delete.

  3. Select Delete Selected Alerts to proceed then click OK.
