Need help to set up your email on a mobile device? 

The following article outlines the process for either Android or iOS devices with the preferred and recommended Outlook app or the OS built-in app.

Quick Jump:

If you have either an iPhone or iPad that needs to be configured see the following steps for the preferred and recommended Microsoft Outlook app or built-in Mail app.

  1. Download Outlook for iOS from the iOS App Store and then open it. The icon looks like this:

    • Note: If you have a work account that requires the Intune Company Portal app, install it from the App Store before setting up Outlook for iOS. Your IT admin may or may not also require you to Enroll your iOS device in Intune.
  2. If it’s your first time using Outlook for iOS, enter your full email address, then tap Add Account.

  3. If you’re asked to select your email provider, please contact RODIN for support as there may be a misconfiguration.

  4. Enter your email account password and tap Sign In.

    • Note: The sign in screen may look different for you depending on your email provider.
  5. If multi-factor authentication is enabled, verify your identity.

    Check your text messages and enter the 6 digit code.
  6. Accept any prompts for permission you may receive.

  7. Swipe through the features and you’re now ready to use Outlook for iOS!

  1. Go to your iPhone or iPad’s Settings > scroll down and tap Accounts & Passwords > Add Account.

  2. Note: If you’re on iOS 10, go to Mail > Accounts >Add Account.

  3. Enter your Microsoft 365, Exchange, or Outlook.com email address and a description of your account. Tap Next.

  4. Tap Sign In.

    Tap Sign In if using O365 or tap Configure Manually if you have your organization's server settings.
  5. Enter the password associated with your email account. Tap Sign in or Next.

  6. The Mail app may request certain permissions. Tap Accept.

    Tap Allow if prompted to give permission.
  7. Choose the services you want to sync with your iOS device and tap Save. You’re done!

If you have either an Android Phone or Tablet that needs to be configured see the following steps for the preferred and recommended Microsoft Outlook app or built-in Gmail or Samsung Email app.

  1. Install the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play Store and then open it.

  2. Tap Get Started.

  3. Enter your full email address, then tap Continue.

  4. Enter your email account password and tap Sign In or Next.
    Enter your password for your email account.

    • Note: The sign in screen may look different for you depending on your email provider.
  5. If multi-factor authentication is enabled, verify your identity.
    Check your text messages and enter the 6 digit code.

  1. Open the Gmail app.

  2. Tap the menu icon in the upper left corner > Settings > Add account > Exchange and Microsoft 365.

    • Important: Do NOT choose “Outlook, Hotmail, and Live” unless you want to sync email only and not calendar/contacts.
  3. Enter your full email address and tap Next.

  4. Enter your password and tap Next.

  5. You may see a Redirect request screen. Tap OK.
    If you see a Redirect request, tap OK.

  6. Follow any prompts you may get for security or device permissions, sync settings, and more.
    Click OK on any prompts you may receive.

    • If you have a Microsoft 365 work or school account, you may also be asked to confirm Remote security administration and approve additional security measures. In this case, choose OK or Activate.
  7. Go to the inbox you just set up. If you see an email that says “Action Required to Sync Email,” open it and tap Use another Mail app instead.

    • If you don’t see this message and emails are syncing, skip this step.
  8. Pull down the Android notification bar by swiping down from the top of your screen.

    • If you see a notification that reads “Unable to sync calendar and contacts,” tap it. Then tap Allow to give access and you’re done!
    • Note: If you don’t see a sync error, verify your calendar and contacts are syncing.
  1. Open the Samsung Email app and tap Add Account.

  2. Enter your email address and password. Tap Sign in.

    • Note: If the email app detects your provider, you may be redirected to a different sign in screen.
  3. If you’re prompted to select account type, choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to sync contacts and calendars.

  4. Tap Yes or Ok to confirm settings and permissions. What you see may vary depending on what kind of account you’re setting up.

  5. If you’ve turned on two-step verification, you’ll verify your identity with your chosen method.

  6. Go to the inbox you just set up. If you see an email that says “Action Required to Sync Email,” open it and tap Use another Mail app instead.

    • If you don’t see this message and emails are syncing, skip this step.
