Recover files in Office 365 Exchange Online

When you accidentally deleted an email with important attachment or file, you can still restore it. By default, all deleted emails are being stored or moved to Deleted Items.

If you’re accessing Office 365 Exchange directly from the web app, follow these steps to restore messages.

  1. Click Deleted Items.
  2. Right-click the file, then click Move > Inbox to restore it.

Note:

  • You can also use the Deleted Items folder to recover events, contacts or even tasks. Click here to see the steps.

  • Deleted email stays in Deleted Items unless you decide to empty the folder.

To recover emails deleted from Deleted Items, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Deleted Items then click Recover items deleted from this folder.
  2. Select the items you wish to recover then click Restore.
  3. The item will be back to Deleted Items. From there, proceed with moving the restored item to Inbox.
