How to change the default font in PowerPoint

You are here:
< All Topics

Rather than changing fonts in your slides one by one, you can change the default fonts for your entire presentation. The font pairing (header font, body font) is an important design decision in PowerPoint.

To change the default font in PowerPoint, follow these steps:

  1. On top menu bar, click View then Slide Master.
Design - Product design
  1. Click Fonts.
Design - Product design
  1. Select Customize Fonts.
Paper - Line
  1. On the dialog box, select font for heading and body. You may rename your new theme font then click Save.
Web page - Computer program

You may now click Close Master View. The text throughout your presentation is automatically updated to the new font.

Once you set your default font on Slide Master, you can also save it by creating a PowerPoint template. This will save your font updates and can be used in future presentations.

  1. Click File.
  1. Then click Save As > Browse.
  1. Select a path where you would like to save your template.
  1. Rename your template in the File name box.
  1. Click the Save as type drop-down menu and select PowerPoint Template.
  1. Finally, click Save.
